Fonts are fun. Fonts can give that special, unique touch to your greeting cards, business cards, CD covers, and any document. Windows comes with many different fonts, but there is always room for more.
There are many sites on the Web that offer “free fonts”; just Google that term. Often, the free fonts are free samples designed to entice you into buying a full package of several thousand fonts. It may be awkward and tedious to find and download one free font; that’s to keep people from downloading many fonts at once and to make the package deal more attractive. But with a bit of patience you can find the perfect font for free.

It’s not difficult to find a specific Contact in any version of Outlook. Just use the “search address books” box in the top-right portion of the main screen. But what if you want to find all business or family contacts so you can send out a request for a quote or an invitation to Sunday dinner? That’s where Categories come in handy.
Go to the Contacts view of Outlook by clicking on “Contact” in the lower-left corner of the main screen. Under “Current View” in the left-hand pane, check the radio button “By Category.”

When I first opened Microsoft Word 2007 and started typing, I nearly went blind. The default font is Calibri 11-point, which is too small for my aged, trifocal-wearing eyes. Then I started getting Word 2007 files from people and they, too were in Calibri 11-point. It seems Word 2007 is taking over the world, so it’s time for everyone to change their default font to something I can read.
The default font style in any version of Word is stored in a special document called a template – specifically, the Normal (style) template. The Normal template is loaded as the basis for any new document you start in Word. Its style elements are saved with the document. Any changes you make to font styles or other elements override the Normal template but do not change it, so the same font style is applied the next time you create a new document. You have to open the Normal template itself and modify it.

There are many reasons you might want to check the browsing history on your computer – perhaps you remember finding the perfect crème brulee recipe last week but you forgot to bookmark it, or maybe you just need to check up on your teenage daughter to make sure she really was researching her latest school project online and not watching reruns of Family Guy the whole time. Whatever the reason, finding out where you were is easy to do if you know where to look.

File system errors can cause a variety of subtle symptoms, and not so subtle ones. Your system may “feel sluggish.” Your hard drive may seem to be thrashing a bit and the activity light stays on “too long.” Overt signs include files that take forever to load and the blunt message:
The file or directory filename is
corrupt and unreadable.
Please run the Chkdsk utility.
File system errors may be caused by power failures, viruses, an overworked crowded hard drive, and other things. The point is that allowing your system to continue running with file system errors is as dangerous as running a car without oil. Eventually, it will blow.

PDF stands for “portable document format,” and that’s just how we need our documents to be: portable. It’s inconvenient to spend time creating a file only to find out that the recipient cannot open or view it. The beauty of PDF is that anyone can open, view, and print these files, as long as they have one of several free PDF reader applications, such as Adobe’s Reader. But what can you do if you want to be able to distribute files in the PDF format? It’s not quite as obvious how to make PDF files – but it’s not difficult, and you can do it for free.

Sharing files and printers is one of the main benefits of having a network at home or office. A Windows network lets you easily share selected files and printers. This tutorial for Windows XP Pro assumes you have already set up your network and enabled file and printer sharing during the setup process. There are many reasons to switch Web hosting companies: prolonged or repeated outages, poor customer service, or maybe you just found a better deal. However, if you have a well-established WordPress blog you might find as many reasons to procrastinate on moving your site. You don’t want to start over again with the content, comments, and registered users it took so long to amass. Moving WordPress isn’t impossible, though, and as long as you take your time and follow the necessary steps, it isn’t all that difficult.
